Fitness has always been a constant and essential part of my life. I was a long distance runner for nearly 10 years. I ran on both the Cross Country and Track teams in high school, then on the University of Central Florida’s Track and Cross Country teams. As a consequence of running 60 to 70 miles a week for over three years in college, my body needed a break from running, but my mind still craved the endorphins and challenge of a high intensity workout. I found the CrossFit community shortly after graduating, nearly 5 years ago now, and immediately fell in love. As my full-time job, I work as a federal civilian for the United States Navy, but in conjunction have been coaching CrossFit/Functional Fitness part-time for the past 3 years. Due to the personal nature of CrossFit/Functional Fitness, as coaches, we’re in the unique position to witness and support each athlete’s accolades, milestones, and all around fitness journey. Each athlete is different, there is no “one size fits all” with what we do as coaches. However, each workout is done as a class/group. No athlete will be left out of classes based on their individual fitness levels. I think that’s what I love most about this sport and having the privilege of coaching. Each athlete is different and we’re the ones able to guide them on their individual journey and celebrate along side them when they reach their goals.
